As a local businessman, starting a family business from scratch here in Ashford some 35 years ago, I have a long relationship with the town that runs deep. I have raised my family here, employed many local people and been involved in community organisations, including co-founding a local sports team. Ashford for me has always been about opportunity. My family business, that I Chair alongside two of my sons, has a strap-line that we used on a local radio ad once: ‘Born, built and raised in Ashford’. It is this ethos along with my family values that I will bring to representing you in local government.
Time for you – I’m semi-retired now, so while I can keep my finger on the pulse with the challenges in the local economy, I have plenty of time on my hands to represent each and every one of you, without the restrictions of a political party ‘line’. Putting it plain and simple: I will be your voice, and an independent one at that. Many of our neighbours have told me for years to stand, and I feel that now is that time. I have the skills and experience to make a positive impact on our community, and although my family have long been frustrated by my loud voice, being a councillor is the perfect way to ensure that I use it to ensure that your voices are heard in a council dominated by political parties! You have elected an Independent here before, and now is the perfect opportunity to do so once again!
